Web Site Tip 2 - July 7, 2007
Do you really need a web site?
I remember the mid-seventies when customers were impressed if a business had a fax machine. By the late seventies those same customers were asking "Do you have a fax machine". By the early eighties they were asking "What is your fax number?" In just a few short years the technology of the fax became so commonplace that customers and prospects naturally assumed any serious business had a fax.
In the mid-nineties customers were impressed if a business had a web site. As more people gained access to the internet the began asking businesses "Do you have a web site?" For quite a few years now those customers and prospects have assumed that every business has a web site.
When I started Profits On The Web in 2001 many of our sales were to small companies that recognized when they were asked "What is your web address" that they needed a site, if for no other reason, to maintain credibility.
Even a basic, one page web presence offers great benefit to businesses of any size by maintaining or improving credibility in today's market.
Structuring your web site to meet a defined purpose dramatically increases the positive impact a web presence offers.
So, do you really need a web site? In a word, YES!
